Time-frequency representation
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006032
A mathematical or graphical depiction of a signal that simultaneously shows its energy distribution across both time and frequency axes. This representation is particularly useful for analyzing non-stationary signals, where frequency content varies over time. Examples include the short-time Fourier transform and the Wigner-Ville distribution, which provide insights into signal characteristics not visible in either domain alone.
