Upconversion

The process of converting a signal from a lower frequency to a higher frequency. This technique is used in radio receivers and transmitters to shift signals to an intermediate frequency (IF) or a final transmission frequency. Upconversion is often achieved using a mixer circuit that combines the input signal with a local oscillator signal.
