Octode
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003967
A vacuum tube or thermionic valve with eight electrodes: an anode, a cathode, and six grids. The multiple grids allow the tube to perform complex functions, most commonly frequency mixing (heterodyning) in superheterodyne radio receivers. The octode combines the functions of a local oscillator and a mixer in a single envelope, with specific grids used for oscillation feedback, signal input, and screening.
