Anode

The electrode in an electrochemical cell or electronic device where oxidation occurs, meaning electrons are lost. It is typically the positive terminal in a galvanic cell or a device drawing current, and the negative terminal in an electrolytic cell. In a vacuum tube, the anode attracts electrons emitted from the cathode.
