Cathode ray

A stream of electrons observed in vacuum tubes, originating from the cathode and accelerated towards the anode. These rays are invisible but cause fluorescence when they strike certain materials. Cathode rays were historically used in cathode ray tube (CRT) displays for televisions and computer monitors.
