FED
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006973
A type of flat panel display technology that uses large-area field electron sources to provide electrons that strike colored phosphors to produce an image. A Field Emission Display functions similarly to a cathode ray tube (CRT) but arranges the electron emitters in a grid behind the screen, making the entire assembly much thinner. Unlike liquid crystal displays (LCDs), FEDs are emissive and do not require a backlight, which can result in higher contrast ratios and lower power consumption.
