Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003282
A flat-panel display technology that uses the light-modulating characteristics of liquid crystals, which do not emit light directly. An LCD, or liquid-crystal display, consists of a layer of liquid crystals between two sheets of polarized material, with a backlight or reflector to create images. The application of an electric voltage to the crystals changes their alignment, controlling the passage of light to form pixels.
