Surface-conduction electron-emitter display
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005782
A type of flat-panel display technology that uses an array of microscopic electron emitters to excite phosphors and produce an image. Each emitter consists of a tiny gap in a conductive film, across which electrons are accelerated towards the screen. This technology aimed to combine the image quality of cathode ray tubes with the thin profile of flat-panel displays, though it did not achieve widespread commercial success.
