Surface-conduction Electron-emitter Display, a flat-panel display technology that uses electron emitters to excite phosphors and create an image. Each pixel contains a tiny electron emitter that generates electrons when a voltage is applied. SEDs aim to combine the high contrast and fast response of CRTs with the thin profile of flat-panel displays.
