B battery

A type of dry cell battery that historically provided the high voltage required for the plate (anode) circuits of vacuum tube radios. These batteries typically supplied voltages ranging from 22.5 volts to 90 volts or more, unlike A batteries which powered the filaments. B batteries are largely obsolete with the advent of solid-state electronics.
