Electron tube
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002009
A vacuum tube that controls electric current flow through a vacuum or gas between electrodes. These devices amplify, switch, or rectify electrical signals, operating on principles of thermionic emission or field emission. Early computers and radios relied heavily on electron tubes, which have largely been superseded by solid-state semiconductor devices like transistors.
