Vacuum tube

An electronic component consisting of electrodes separated by a vacuum inside a sealed glass or metal enclosure. It controls electric current flow by varying the voltage on one or more of its electrodes. Vacuum tubes were foundational to electronics in the early to mid-20th century, used in radios, televisions, and early computers.
