Electron multiplier
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002008
A vacuum tube device that amplifies a weak electron current into a much larger one through a cascade of secondary electron emissions. An incoming electron strikes a dynode, releasing multiple secondary electrons, which then strike subsequent dynodes. This process creates a measurable electrical signal from a single incident electron, finding application in mass spectrometry and night vision devices.
