Frequency multiplier
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002453
A circuit that produces an output signal with a frequency that is an integer multiple of its input frequency. This process is achieved by non-linear components that generate harmonics, followed by a bandpass filter to select the desired harmonic. Frequency multipliers are often used in radio transmitters and synthesizers to generate high-frequency signals from a lower-frequency reference.
