Downconversion
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001816
The process of shifting a signal from a higher frequency to a lower frequency, typically in radio frequency (RF) systems. This is achieved by mixing the incoming signal with a local oscillator signal, producing a difference frequency that is easier to process. Downconversion is a standard technique in receivers to reduce the operating frequency of subsequent stages.
