IF
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002964
Intermediate frequency, a frequency to which a carrier wave is shifted as an intermediate step in a superheterodyne receiver. This conversion simplifies the design of subsequent amplifier stages and filters, as they can operate at a fixed frequency. The IF is typically lower than the original radio frequency.
