Electromechanical computer

A type of early computing device that uses a combination of electrical and mechanical components, such as relays, gears, and switches, to perform calculations and store data. These machines preceded purely electronic computers and were characterized by their physical moving parts and audible operation. The Harvard Mark I, completed in 1944, is a notable example of an electromechanical computer.
