Minicomputer

A class of multi-user computers that emerged in the 1960s, smaller and less expensive than mainframe computers but more powerful than microcomputers. They were typically used for scientific and engineering computations, business transaction processing, and process control. The PDP-8 was an early example of a minicomputer.
