Time and frequency transfer

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006015

The distribution of a stable time or frequency reference from a primary standard to a remote location. This process synchronizes clocks and oscillators, which is necessary for applications like telecommunications network timing, power grid management, and global navigation satellite systems. Methods for transfer include dedicated fiber optic links, satellite-based techniques such as GPS common-view, and radio broadcasts, with the accuracy measured by its time deviation or Allan deviation.
