Time-frequency analysis

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006031

A set of signal processing techniques used to characterize how the frequency content of a signal changes over time. Unlike Fourier analysis, which provides an average frequency spectrum, these methods produce a two-dimensional representation showing spectral components at different moments. Common methods include the short-time Fourier transform (STFT), wavelet transforms, and the Wigner-Ville distribution, which are applied in fields like vibration analysis, acoustics, and communications.
