Tret
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006172
An allowance or deduction made from the gross weight of goods to account for waste or impurities that are part of the product but not the saleable material. This adjustment was historically applied to bulk commodities like spices or grains, where some loss from dust, debris, or spoilage was expected. Unlike tare, which is an allowance for the weight of the container, tret is an allowance for waste within the goods themselves.
