Light vehicle

A motor vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating below a specified limit, distinguishing it from heavy-duty commercial trucks and buses. This classification includes passenger cars, minivans, sport utility vehicles, and pickup trucks used for transporting either passengers or light cargo. In the United States, federal regulations often define a light-duty vehicle as one with a gross vehicle weight rating of up to 8,500 pounds (3,860 kilograms).
