Upmass
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006377
The total mass of a payload, including the spacecraft, its propellants, and all cargo, that is launched from Earth into space. This figure is a primary design driver for any space mission, as it must be within the lift capacity of the selected launch vehicle. Mission planners carefully calculate and track upmass to balance scientific objectives, hardware requirements, and budget constraints against the rocket's performance limits.
