Washboard
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006520
A pattern of closely spaced, transverse ripples that forms on the surface of unpaved or gravel roads, also known as corrugation. This surface defect is created by the interaction of vehicle tires with loose road material, which sorts the particles into a series of crests and troughs. The resulting vibration reduces ride comfort, accelerates vehicle wear, and can compromise steering control at certain speeds.
