Admitted insurance

Insurance coverage placed with an insurer licensed to operate in the state where the policyholder resides or the risk is located. These insurers are subject to the financial and regulatory oversight of the state's department of insurance. This status provides policyholders with recourse to state guaranty funds in the event of insurer insolvency.
