Aggregate stop-loss reinsurance

A type of reinsurance that protects a primary insurer from total losses exceeding a predetermined amount over a specific period, usually one year. The reinsurer pays claims once the primary insurer's cumulative losses surpass this aggregate retention level. This mechanism provides financial stability by capping the primary insurer's total exposure to claims.
