Breach of warranty clause (BOW)

A provision in an insurance policy that states the insurer will not deny a claim due to a breach of warranty by the insured, provided the breach did not contribute to the loss. This clause often applies in situations where the insured has made a representation that turns out to be untrue, but the untruth was not causally linked to the event causing the damage. It is frequently found in marine insurance policies.
