Carryover provision

A clause in an insurance policy, particularly in health or dental plans, that allows a policyholder to apply unused benefits or meet a deductible requirement over a specified period, typically from one plan year to the next. This provision can reduce out-of-pocket costs for the insured in subsequent periods. For example, a portion of an unmet deductible might carry over to the next year.
