Disclosure dollar loss (DDL)

A metric quantifying the total financial impact resulting from an unauthorized disclosure of sensitive or confidential information. The calculation of disclosure dollar loss (DDL) includes direct costs such as regulatory fines, legal fees, customer notification, and credit monitoring services, as well as indirect costs like reputational harm and lost business. Cyber insurance policies are structured to cover many of the components that contribute to the final DDL amount.
