Discontinuance

The termination of an insurance policy or coverage by either the insurer or the policyholder. This can occur due to non-payment of premiums, expiration of the policy term, or a decision by either party to end the contract. Discontinuance differs from cancellation, which typically involves termination before the policy's natural expiration date.
