Dry pipe sprinkler system

Term · Insurance and risk management · MLC-T-INS-001229

A type of fire sprinkler system where the pipes are filled with pressurized air or nitrogen instead of water. Water is held back by a valve and only released into the pipes when a sprinkler head activates due to heat, causing the air pressure to drop. These systems are used in unheated buildings or areas where water in pipes could freeze, such as cold storage facilities or unheated warehouses.
