Sump pump

A device installed in the lowest part of a basement or crawl space to remove water that accumulates in a sump pit. When the water level rises, the pump automatically activates to discharge the water away from the foundation of the building. Coverage for damage caused by sump pump failure or overflow is often an optional endorsement to a standard homeowners insurance policy.
