Flood coverage

Protection against financial losses caused by water damage from a flood, which is defined as an overflow of inland or tidal waters, unusual and rapid accumulation or runoff of surface waters, or mudslides. This type of coverage is excluded from standard homeowners insurance policies and must be purchased separately. In the United States, it is primarily available through the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).
