Dividend accumulation

An option available to policyholders of participating life insurance policies, where policy dividends are left with the insurer to earn interest. The accumulated dividends and interest can be withdrawn by the policyholder at any time or used to increase the death benefit. The interest rate applied to these accumulations is declared by the insurer annually.
