The aggregation of insured values or losses at a single location or arising from a single event, which can lead to a large total loss for an insurer. Underwriters monitor accumulations to manage their exposure to catastrophic events. Reinsurance treaties often include clauses to limit an insurer's exposure to such concentrated risks.
