Accumulation

The net gain of mass at a surface, typically referring to the addition of snow, ice, or water. This process occurs when the rate of deposition or precipitation exceeds the rate of ablation or evaporation. In glaciology, accumulation zones are areas where snow and ice mass increase over time.
