Earth movement or earthquake exclusion
Term · Insurance and risk management · MLC-T-INS-001244
A standard exclusion found in most property insurance policies, including homeowners and commercial property forms, that denies coverage for losses caused by earthquakes, landslides, mudslides, and other forms of earth movement. This exclusion is applied because these perils are considered catastrophic and require specialized coverage. Separate earthquake insurance can be purchased to cover these risks.
