False pretense, trick, and device

Term · Insurance and risk management · MLC-T-INS-001458

A type of exclusion in insurance policies that denies coverage for losses resulting from voluntarily parting with property due to fraud, deception, or a confidence scheme. This applies when an insured willingly surrenders possession of an item based on a misrepresentation by another party. For example, if a vehicle is given to someone who promises to pay later but then absconds with it, the loss would be excluded.
