Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 FMLA

A federal law that requires covered employers to provide eligible employees with up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave for specified family and medical reasons. These reasons include the birth or adoption of a child, caring for an immediate family member with a serious health condition, or the employee's own serious health condition. Employers with 50 or more employees within a 75-mile radius are generally subject to FMLA requirements.
