Historical cost

The original monetary value of an asset when it was first acquired or constructed, as recorded in accounting records. This value is not adjusted for inflation, depreciation, or changes in market value over time. In insurance, historical cost may be considered when determining the insurable value of certain assets, though actual cash value or replacement cost are more common.
