Insurance that pays for physical damage to a vessel or aircraft itself, including its machinery and equipment, from named perils or on an all-risks basis. Marine forms typically add collision liability to other vessels under a running-down clause, while liability to passengers and cargo owners falls under protection and indemnity cover for ships or aviation liability policies for aircraft. Cargo carried aboard is insured under a separate policy.
