Hybrid plans

Retirement plans that combine features of both defined benefit and defined contribution plans. They typically offer a guaranteed benefit formula, similar to a defined benefit plan, but also provide individual accounts for participants, like a defined contribution plan. Cash balance plans are a common example of a hybrid plan.
