Locality Standard

A legal principle, primarily in medical malpractice cases, that historically judged a healthcare professional's conduct against the standard of care practiced by other professionals in the same or similar community. This standard has largely been replaced by a national standard of care in many jurisdictions. It aimed to account for differences in resources and practices between urban and rural areas.
