Maturity value

The total amount payable to the policyholder or beneficiary when an insurance policy or financial instrument reaches the end of its term. For a life insurance policy, this is typically the face amount of the policy. For a bond, it is the principal amount that the issuer repays to the bondholder on the maturity date.
