National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB)

A confidential information clearinghouse established by Congress to collect and release information on the professional competence and conduct of healthcare practitioners. It contains reports of medical malpractice payments and adverse actions against healthcare professionals. The NPDB aims to prevent incompetent practitioners from moving from state to state without disclosure of their past performance.
