Nonadmitted balance

The portion of an insurer's assets that state insurance regulators do not allow to be included in the calculation of its statutory surplus. This balance represents assets deemed to have insufficient liquidity or certainty of value to protect policyholders. It is a key factor in assessing an insurer's financial strength and regulatory compliance.
