Nonadmitted asset

An asset owned by an insurance company that is not recognized by state insurance regulators when calculating the insurer's financial solvency. These assets are considered to have uncertain value or liquidity and cannot be counted towards the insurer's statutory capital and surplus. Examples include furniture, fixtures, and certain overdue premiums.
