Preamble

An introductory statement in an insurance policy that precedes the insuring agreement and other sections. It identifies the parties to the contract (the insurer and the named insured), states the period the policy is in effect, and acknowledges that the policy is issued in consideration of the premium payment and the information provided in the application. This section sets the context for the contractual obligations that follow in the policy form.
