Policyholder

The person, company, or other entity that owns an insurance policy and is entitled to its protections and benefits. The policyholder is responsible for paying premiums and is the party with whom the insurer has a contractual agreement. While the policyholder is often the insured person, it is possible for the policyholder to be a separate entity, such as a parent insuring a child or a corporation insuring its employees.
