Ratable losses

The portion of an employer's incurred workers' compensation losses that are used in the calculation of experience modification factors or retrospective rating adjustments. These losses are typically capped at a certain amount per claim to mitigate the impact of very large, infrequent losses on an employer's future premiums. They reflect the employer's actual claims experience.
